Mealworm & Mixed Berry Smoothie

Next in the Grub’s Up series is the mealworm & mixed berry smoothie.


INGREDIENTS


  • fresh basil

  • 15g mealworms

  • 15g cricket powder

  • 350ml almond milk

  • 2 cups mixed berries, frozen



RECIPE INFORMATION


  1. add all above ingredients into a food processor/blender

  2. blend until smooth

  3. serve with fresh basil


This smoothie is nutrient-rich, filling and wholesome. With an added oaty flavour from the crickets, it makes the perfect substitute for traditional protein powders and supplements. The crickets add a boost of protein, fibre, Omegas 3&6, iron, calcium, Vit B12 plus many loads more micronutrients. The mealworms then add additional high-quality nutrients.


The best bit is that the nutrients in insects are incredibly sustainable. Insects require a tiny proportion of the land, resources and energy compared to conventional livestock. Plus insects have more hidden nutritional benefits.
